Johan O. Bergquist, Pot-Nets security guard

Johan O. Bergquist, 94, of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Renaissance Healthcare. He was born in Glen Falls, N.Y., Sunday, Feb. 5, 1922, son of the late Karl and Alice Bergquist.

Mr. Bergquist proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He spent over 20 years with RCA Space Center as a quality control inspector in Cape Canaveral. After retiring to Georgetown, Mr. Bergquist worked for a few years as a security guard for Pot-Nets community. He was a member of American Legion Post 28. In his spare time, Mr. Bergquist enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bergquist is preceded in death by his two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Elizabeth R. Bergquist; his daughters: Sandra Parker of North Carolina, Carol Cassusses and her husband Marc of Marritt Island, Fla., Jan Haase of Melbourne, Fla., and Lynda Barker of Georgetown; his son, James Page and his wife Debra of Romney, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Gladys Brower of upstate New York and Charlotte Brancato of California; and his two dogs, Shelly and Tupi.

Chapel Committal will follow services at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown.
