Alvana Wilson, retired security guard

October 4, 2022

Alvana “Beverly” Wilson, 88, of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at her home. She was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Ocean View, daughter of the late Elmer and Alberta A. (Mitchell) Justice.

A lifelong Delawarean, Beverly and her husband, Russell, raised their family in Sussex County, where all of her children still reside. She enjoyed a lengthy career working as a security guard for Sussex County government and retired from Sussex County Courthouse in Georgetown, a job she enjoyed very much. Her devotion to her family, however, took precedence, and the time spent with those she held dear was what she most cherished.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband Russell L. Wilson; two sisters Ruth Schmierer and Barbara Thompson; and her son-in-law Bryan Schilling. She is survived by her brother, Nelson Justice (Linda) of Laurel; her children, Michael L. Wilson (Debbie) of Georgetown, Deborah A. Wilson (Brian) of Lewes, and Donna R. Allen (Doug) of Lewes; four grandsons, Mike and Mark Wilson, Kevin Quillen and Christopher Schilling; and several great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at St. John’s Cemetery, Gravel Hill and Springfield Crossroads, Georgetown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown.
