Just in time to watch the heavy machinery begin the latest round of beach replenishment, President Joe Biden is expected to be at his North Shores home outside of Rehoboth Beach for the weekend, beginning Saturday, April 15.
According to the Week Ahead Guidance and Press Schedule from the White House issued Sunday, April 9, the president would be arriving in Rehoboth sometime Saturday, “where he will remain over the weekend.” The guidance said he will be arriving in Dover from his trip to Ireland.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a restricted flight area notice April 13 that goes into effect for the Rehoboth Beach area beginning at 2 a.m., Saturday, April 15, and ending at 1 a.m., Tuesday, April 18.
A reminder of security measures taken when Biden is in town:
- Gordons Pond users should expect restrictions. The park’s parking lot is just around the corner from Biden’s home and is used as a landing site for Marine Force One.
- The FAA’s temporary flight restrictions limit use of the airspace from Dover south to Ocean City, Md.; and west to the Maryland border.
- The Coast Guard establishes security zones in the ocean area immediately in front of North Shores beach and in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.
Since Biden was elected president, he has attended church, walked on the beach and gone for a few bike rides while in Rehoboth Beach. If he does so on this trip, send photos to reporter Chris Flood at cflood@capegazette.com.
