Cape boys’ lacrosse lost April 14 at defending Pennsylvania 3A state champion Radnor 12-8 after leading 6-5 at halftime. The Vikings dropped their first game of the season after starting 5-0.
Radnor outscored Cape 4-0 in the third quarter, and that was the difference in the game.
“We were careless with the ball in the third period, and it allowed them extra possessions and eventually we paid the price,” said coach Mark D’Ambrogi. “Our defense has continued to improve, and I am confident the players can use this as a chance to learn from our mistakes. Radnor is an excellent team that plays a tough schedule. We can use the experience to benefit us.”
Cape was led in scoring by Mikey Frederick and Luke Burton with two goals each. Adding single goals were Hank D’Ambrogi, C.J. Fritchman, Cody Trivitts and Joe Coveleski.
D’Ambrogi led the way with four assists, while Luke Burton and Michael Guenther each had one.
Goalie Evan Erhardt was credited with 12 saves.
Cape next plays at Tower Hill at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23. The Hillers are 5-0 on the season and are likely to be 7-0 when Cape steps onto DeGroat Field.
